Babar K. Rao, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist internationally recognized for his pioneering work in non-invasive skin cancer diagnostics. He serves as a Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and as a Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine.

Dr. Rao is the Founder and Medical Director of Rao Dermatology, with clinical locations across New York, New Jersey, and California. A prolific academic, he has authored over 500 peer-reviewed publications and two dermatology textbooks, making enduring contributions to dermatologic education and research. He is also the Founder of NIDIskin and President of the American Confocal Group.

In addition to his academic and clinical leadership, Dr. Rao serves as the President of APPNA (Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America). Beyond medicine, he is deeply committed to global humanitarian work, supporting initiatives that include a girls’ school, a burn hospital, and a pediatric surgery unit serving underserved communities worldwide.
